Hanham Hall is a multi-award winning development of 185 homes located 7km from Bristol city centre. It will become the benchmark for sustainable housing development, meeting the projected 2015 Zero-Carbon targets. The project used cutting edge building technology in the form of SIPS panels which were tested for sound and airtightness by BSRIA and co-heating by Oxford Brooks University. Bluclad was an integral part of the SIPS panel, providing a substrate for the final external render finish.
Which materials are specified and how they are used is a core element of the 2016 Zero Carbon standard - and hence a requirement of the Hanham Hall project. All elements had to perform to the highest industry standards, including fire, thermal and acoustic performance.
Bluclad is simply screwed to vertical timber battens
Bluclad was installed horizontally in a stretcher bond pattern with a 3mm gap left between each board.
"The Bluclad construction boards give a good, stable surface and adhesion which with the weber.rend MT multi-coat render system provided a clean, simple aesthetic finish for the properties."
"Each and every material specified for this project needed to satisfy the strict criteria of the Carbon Challenge Brief - the Weber/Bluclad system met this brief - and provided the designers with the flexibility to design each unit individually. Bluclad is a well-established product which is practical to use on site."
