Eastern High School in Trowbridge, Cardiff is a £25 million ‘super school’ built to replace deteriorating buildings with a bespoke, state-of-the-art facility for up to 1,500 pupils.

Siniat engaged with project architects Powell Dobson, main contractor Willmott Dixon and installation subcontractor M&P throughout the development, from design to installation and completion.

A range of high-tech solutions were used to guarantee a durable structure, built to exacting standards of noise insulation and fire resistance to create a safe and productive teaching environment.

Installation Phase

Eastern High School’s design features an impressive external curve. Siniat’s 2nd Generation Weather Defence board was specified to fulfil Powell Dobson’s striking vision for its durability and flexibility, which allowed it to be curved around the concave façade. With fixed term dates, the project could not afford delays. Weather Defence’s combined water, weather and mould resistance means it can be left exposed for up to 12 months during construction, allowing internal work to begin before the external façade is closed.

Multi-purpose performance

Siniat’s multi-purpose Megadeco board, was specified across large sections of the school to simplify and speed up its construction.

120 mins fire resistance

Fire Core Board was chosen for its superior fire resistance; the material can contain an outbreak for up to 120 minutes as part of the GTEC Shaftwall Fire Protection system.

“We enjoy installing products from Siniat because they’re so user-friendly. The comprehensive support on site offered by Siniat coupled with the quality of its materials makes it a great partner to work with, whatever the project”
